The Shadow Returns

There have been new series born. Reflections pursued. The hunt for pieces of pie. Windows studied. Seeing the world in black and white.

And yet, the allure of shadows still holds sway. The mysterious connection with light and shade; a light painting discovered.

Golden streaks on blue snow. Asphalt, black as night, covered with twinkling pebble stars. Sunshine streaming through gaps in a fence, forming delicate stripes and triangles of geometric light.

Oh, yes!

It’s more of a challenge now, with shadows. To find something I haven’t done before; an image with something new to say. To avoid repetition; to explore deeper.

But my eyes still search the shadows; seeking that fleeting marriage of object and light; that momentary partnership of illumination and shade.

Still chasing shadows. After all, you never forget your first love.

  5. I, too, am wondering if it is asphalt. Whatever it is, you have a great capture here for us to enjoy. I adore photos with a strong linear quality so you can see why this one appeals to me so much. genie

  6. What gorgeous shadow and light in this. I – too – seek out the patterns in shadows. There’ something so alluring about them.
